I think we all come to meet people in our lives that just aren't meant to stay or, perhaps, aren't meant to fulfill a role that we desperately desire. It doesn't matter what we do, the moment isn't right. And sometimes, it feels as though we loved that person in another time, in another place. The past is this distant echo that sings out to us from a shore we haven't stepped foot on in this lifetime. It's agonizing and heartbreaking, and totally poem-worthy.
It doesn't make the relationship we have in the now any less special. I think it can, however, be difficult to function around someone like that. And this is what this piece is about -- finding that person, knowing that your souls were made to love one another, but it just wasn't the right time this go around.
It was also inspired by one of my favorite Cure songs of all time. Listen here.
