It is kind of funny to look back on poems that I wrote in the heat of the moment. These are the ones I fear to share the most due to the fact they are heavily laden with emotion and (most of the time) about my family. This, in particular, is about my father.
Only in the last few years has the mystery about my father and his family unraveled. With the death of his mother and younger sister, more truths than expected came to light and I found myself lost in all of it. I had so many questions -- most of which have gone unanswered. I am not brave enough to ask them just yet.
I inherited a lot from my dad: his humor, his ability to tell stories, his unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. And his temper. It's in there, too.
